Johnny Heiskell lived in the Tennessee Valley on worn-out land that barely supported the family that had farmed the land since Colonial times. It was Heiskell land, but the Tennessee Valley Authority wanted to build a dam that would bring electricity and prosperity to the valley families, and this meant their land would be flooded and they had to move. Johnny was angry, but curious, and because of this challenge, he became an Award winner as the best young farmer in the state, overcoming disaster and old-fashioned prejudice.
