This is the perfect book for introducing a new generation to the world of Beatrix Potter. The original publisher of her work, Frederick Warne, has kept The Tale of Peter Rabbit and her other stories in print for over a hundred years. This edition contains all twenty-three stories, unabridged and complete with all of her original pen & ink and color illustrations.

On September 4th, 1893, Beatrix Potter wrote a picture letter to five-year old Noel Moore which began: 'My dear Noel, I don't know what to write to you, so I shall tell you a story about four little rabbits whose names were Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter.' Eight years later, in 1901, Beatrix Potter privately published an illustrated story called The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which was based on this letter.

Every publisher she submitted to rejected The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor's Garden, so she self-published the book herself. Finally, the success of her self-published books persuaded Frederick Warne & Co. to publish the book in 1901, with full-color illustrations rather than the black and white drawings in her original volumes. It was a long and fruitful relationship. She was writing about rabbits, after all.
