After training the bear cub Alphonse to dress, march, and handle a sword like a soldier, Jeannot Vallar sends the bear off to fight Iroquois in French Canada. Alphonse and two friends inadvertently volunteer to enter the Iroquois village as spies, and through their bungling bring about peace with the Iroquois.
