This book is a day by day account of Brigham Young's Vanguard Company of 1847. Chronologically the book starts in April 1847 and geographically it starts in Winter Quarters (Omaha), Nebraska. Each day of the journey is described, supported with journal entries of from members of the company. There are also maps showing where the company was each day and where they were in relation to the entire of the trail.
