Ms. White takes the reader on an adventure spanning millions of years. She starts with the first finds of cave man life, then transports the reader back to early days of man. A time when all the world was bad and a piece of flint was all that kept you alive. The reader feels the rush of the 19th century rock hounds and the fear of 7 million year old Java man, all in one book. Though dated, it fired the imagination of a young boy, and showed him that reading could also be fun.
