Resi and her brother Peter live in Switzerland, a beautiful place to live, with its snow-capped mountain peaks, its tumbling waterfalls, its sweet brown cows with poppies in their horns, and its little black and white goats with tinkling bells under their beards.

Resi has a doll named Uncle Emil, the handsomest herdsman doll that could possibly be. That is, until Gigi the hen got hold of him. Even a herdsman doll cannot remain handsome when he is dragged about and pecked at. Then Resi had an idea of how to fix him.
