Mrs. Wiggs is a widow who always looks at the positive side of people and things. She lives with her children in the Cabbage Patch which in reality is just a neighborhood where ramshackle cottages played hop-scotch over the railroad tracks. She teaches her children about honor, virtue and purpose in life. This is a wonderful humbling tale that provides insight to the human experience. The story is poignant and demonstrates what it is to be sympathetic and compassionate, not just to feel those emotions. It's about love in action, through very practical and humble means.
