The villagers of Fairace are more than dismayed when a rumour goes around that the village school will definitely be closed this time, and that the pupils are going to be bussed to the larger school in Beech Green. Meanwhile, Mrs Pringle is not well-pleased when Dr Martin puts her on a diet, so she is in no mood to deal with her demented niece, Minnie, and her convoluted love life.
