German Chocolate Cake Frosting

1 cup milk or cream
1 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups coconut
1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
Combine cream, sugar, egg yolks, and butter in saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and cook until thickens, 3-5 minutes. Add vanilla, coconut and chopped nuts. Let it cool completely before icing cake. Makes enough for middle and top of 2 layer, 9-inch round cake.
