Salisbury Steak

Recipe Added:  3/19/2012
Beef Patties
1 1/2 lb lean ground beef
1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
2 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp beef bouillon
4 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tbsp ketchup
salt and pepper
Gravy
1 onion, sliced
2 cups beef broth
4 dashes Worcestershire
1 Tbsp ketchup
1-2 tsp cornstarch with beef broth
salt and pepper, to taste
Combine all ingredients for patties and knead until all combined. Form into 4 to 6 oval patties. Fry in a skillet with oil and butter over medium-high heat on both sides until no longer pink in the middle. Remove patties from the pan and pour off excess grease. Reduce heat to medium and add onions to pan. Stir and cook for several minutes, until softened and golden brown. Add beef broth, Worcestershire, and ketchup. Stir and cook to reduce.

Add 1-2 tsp of cornstarch/broth mixture for gloss and to thicken. Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper and more broth if needed. Return the steaks to the gravy. Spoon gravy over the top and let them simmer and heat back up for a couple of minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes and petite peas.
