Cheesy Taco Pasta

1 lb ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
1 ½ cups southwest salsa
1 can diced green chilis
½ cup water
4 cups uncooked rotini pasta 
2-3 cups Cheddar cheese, grated (or part Pepper Jack)
1/4 cup cream
salt & pepper to taste (may not need)
Optional Add-Ins
1 small or ½ medium onion, diced
½ cup green/red/yellow peppers, diced

Bring water to boil then cook pasta until al dente, then drain. While the pasta is cooking, in a large skillet, cook ground beef, onions, and peppers, if using. When fully cooked, wipe out pan with paper towel and place back on heat. 

Pour salsa, taco seasoning, chilis, and ½ cup water into 4-cup liquid measuring cup and stir until blended. Add to cooked beef and simmer. Add cooked, drained pasta to meat and top with cheese, cream, salt and pepper. Stir until cheese melts and noodles are coated in sauce. Serve immediately.

Optional Toppings  Sour cream, diced tomatoes, tortilla strips or chips.
Notes
This dish is delicious! It is easy to prepare and is a great choice as a take-in meal to others.
