Cheesy Garlic Bread

Recipe Added:  11/18/2011
BEB Version
1 loaf French bread, halved lengthwise
1 cup butter, softened
¾ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
½ cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
1½ tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried parsley
¼ tsp ground black pepper
⅛ tsp salt
MKC Version
5 garlic cloves, finely minced
1 stick butter, softened
½ tsp water
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
¾ cup grated Mozzarella cheese
1 loaf French bread, halved lengthwise
BEB Version Preheat oven to 350F. With an electric mixer, beat butter, Parmesan, Mozzarella, garlic powder, parsley, pepper and salt on medium speed until smooth and fluffy. Spread mixture evenly over each half of the French bread. Wrap loaf tightly in foil and bake 10 minutes.

Open foil and lay bread cut-side-up on the foil and bake an additional 5 to 10 minutes, until golden brown. Slice and serve immediately. Leftover bread should be stored in a zip-top bag in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

MKC Version  Preheat oven to 400. In a skillet, cook garlic, 1 Tbsp butter and water over low heat, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned, 7-10 minutes. In a small bowl, place remaining butter, salt, and pepper. Add garlic mixture and stir to combine. Spread butter mixture on cut sides of bread. Press loaf together and wrap in foil. Place on baking sheet and bake 15 minutes.

Remove from heat and turn oven to the broil setting. Sprinkle bread with shredded cheese and broil until cheese has melted, 1-2 minutes. Transfer to cutting board with the cheese side facing down. Cut into angled pieces and serve.
