Preheat oven to 350˚. Line with foil and grease 9×13 pan. Combine chopped chocolate and butter. Microwave in intervals of 1 minute until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth, stirring between intervals. Whisk in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt just until combined. Spread half brownie batter in prepared pan. Bake18 minutes. Remove from oven and cool 20 minutes.
Combine caramels and cream in bowl. Microwave 30 seconds at 50% power. Stir. Continue until caramels and cream are melted and combined. Stir in half of pecans to caramel mixture. Immediately spread caramel mixture over bottom brownie layer. Scoop remaining brownie batter in spoonfuls over caramel layer and spread evenly across caramel layer. Sprinkle chocolate chips and remaining pecans on top of final brownie layer. Bake 20 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and cool. Lift brownies using edges of foil and cut into squares. |
