Preheat oven to 350F. Combine all crust ingredients in a medium bowl and mix well. Pack 1 cup mixture into a measuring cup and set aside; gently press remaining mixture into a 9″ pie plate.
Slice apples very thin or roughly chop into large chunks. In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, salt, water, and vanilla and bring to a boil. While mixture is heating, place apples in pie crust. Pour boiling sugar/water mixture over apples. Sprinkle reserved crumb topping over apples and place pie plate on baking sheet. Bake 43-45 minutes. In last 15 minutes, cover pie with aluminum foil to keep from getting too brown. |
