Cheddar Bay Biscuits

2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup buttermilk, cold
1/2 cup butter, melted, cooled
Topping
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp parsley
Preheat oven to 475F. Line or spray a baking sheet; set aside. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, garlic powder and cayenne. Stir in Cheddar cheese; set aside. In a medium bowl, stir together buttermilk and melted butter until butter forms small clumps.

Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture and mix gently with a rubber spatula just until a dough forms and no dry ingredients remain. Use a greased ¼-cup measuring cup to scoop out portions of dough. Place on prepared pan.

Bake about 12 minutes until golden brown,. Stir together 2 Tbsp melted butter, garlic powder and parsley. Remove biscuits from oven and immediately brush with topping. Cool at least 5 minutes before serving.
