Buttery Peas With Thyme

2 Tbsp butter
1/2 medium onion, diced
2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 garlic cloves, finely minced
3 cups frozen peas
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp black pepper
In a 12-inch skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add the onion, sugar and 1/4 tsp salt. Cook until the onion is softened, about 2 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in the peas and thyme and cook, stirring often, until the peas are just heated through, about 3 minutes. Season with black pepper (and additional salt if desired) and serve immediately.
