Brita Stina (Betty) was born 4 January 1841 in Borstil, Stockholm, Sweden to Carl Andersson
and Anna Adersdater. Betty was christened on 6 January 1841, also in Borstril. She joined the L.D.S.
Church and came to Utah. She settled in Plains City where she met Frederick George Ralph. They
were married in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 25, 1869. The following
year in August 1870 she gave birth to their first child, a stillborn son. Two years later on 29 November
1872 she gave birth to a second baby boy, Frederick Charles Ralph.
On 29 September 1873 her husband, Frederick married a second wife, Georgene May. The next year
on 24 May 1874 Betty gave birth to a daughter, who was named Sarah Ann. A month later Betty
received her patriarchal blessing on 29 June 1874. That fall the family moved to Brigham City, only to
move back to Plain City in February 1875. Betty gave birth to a daughter, Mary Ann Ruth on 26
March 1876 and another daughter, Christina Luisa, on 23 October 1878. Unfortunately, less than a
year later Christina Luisa died on 13 August 1879. In the fall of 1879 the family moved to Hyrum,
Cache County, Utah and Betty became a teacher in Relief Society and a member of the choir. Less
than two short years later Betty died in Hyrum, Cache County, Utah on 5 March 1881. Betty's children
were then taken care of by Georgene.
Patriarchal Blessing of Betty Christina Ralph
Plain City, Utah
June 29, 1874
A blessing given by John Smith, Patriarch, upon the head of Betty Christina Ralph, daughter of
Charles and Anne Roseman, born in Tusko, Bostil Soken, Sweden, January 4, 1841.
Sister Christina, by the virtue of the Holy Priesthood I place my hands upon thy head and pronounce
and seal a blessing upon thee that thy heart may be comforted. Thou art of the House of Israel and
have embraced the gospel with an honest heart for which thou art entitled to the blessings of the New
and Everlasting Covenant. Be faithful and the blessing of the Lord shall attend thee and give thee
peace, strength of body and mind and thou shalt be made equal to every task and wisdom shall be given
thee and thou shalt council wisely among thy sex and in honorable remembrance and written in the
Lamb's book of life. Thy days and years be according to thy faith, therefore be of good cheer and let
thy heart be comforted. The Lord is pleased with thine integrity and will give unto thee as thou shalt
merit. Thou art of Ephraim and shall be rewarded for the trials through which thou has past and thy
last days shall be rewarded for the trials through which thou has past and thy last days shall be thy best
days. Listen to the promptings of the spirit and thy guardian angel will whisper in thine ear and ward
thee of danger and give thee power over evil and unclean spirits and health and peace shall abide in thy
habitation. Live up to thy privileges and thou shalt be a savior among thy kindred and shall fufill thy
mission upon the earth.
This blessing I seal upon thy head and I seal thee up unto Eternal life in the name of Jesus Christ to
come forth in the morning of the first Resurrection, even so. Amen.
