Classic Italian Lasagna

1 lb ground beef
1 lb Italian sausage
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 medium onion, finely diced
1 24-oz bottled pasta sauce  or...
3 cans tomato sauce
2 cans tomato paste
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
3 eggs
2 Tbsp dried parsley
2 cups small-curd cottage cheese
2 cups Ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
9 lasagna noodles, cooked
6 slices Provolone cheese
3 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
In a large skillet, cook beef, sausage, garlic, and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add bottled pasta sauce or tomato sauce ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes (bottled sauce) or 1 hour (sauce ingredients), stirring occasionally.

In a large bowl, combine eggs and parsley. Stir in cottage cheese, Ricotta, and Parmesan cheese.

Spread 1 cup meat sauce in an ungreased 13x9 baking dish. Layer with three noodles, Provolone cheese, 2 cups cottage cheese mixture, 1 cup Mozzarella, three noodles, 2 cups meat sauce, remaining cottage cheese mixture, and 1 cup Mozzarella. Top with remaining noodles, meat sauce and Mozzarella.

Cover and bake at 375° for 50 minutes. Uncover; bake 20 minutes longer. Let stand for 15 minutes before cutting.
